Lanark Amateur Musical Society (LAMS) are delighted to announce their 2023 production of LEGALLY BLONDE: The Musical will be sponsored by the Border Biscuits Community Fund.
Melissa Reilly, Club President, commented: “We’re delighted to receive this vital support from Border Biscuits for our upcoming production of Legally Blonde. The funds will be used to support our costs of musical rights and licences to be able to perform the show. . Over the past 40 years, our group has performed a variety of full-scale musical productions in Lanark Memorial Hall, enjoyed by thousands of people within the local community. After a very difficult couple of years through the pandemic we can’t wait to return to the stage with a full-scale musical production!”
Tina Cunningham, Border Community Support Director, said: “We are delighted that Lanark Amateur Musical Society is returning to the Memorial Hall with LEGALLY BLONDE. Border Community Support‘s focus is on supporting projects that benefit the people of Lanark or the town of Lanark as a whole and we’re excited to continue that support for Lanark Amateur Musical Society for another year.”
LAMS’ last full-scale performance was a sell-out run of CHICAGO in 2019. The club was set to perform another sell-out run of HAIRSPRAY in 2020, before the pandemic lockdown meant the production was cancelled. The club reformed in late 2021 to put together a small musical revue concert, LAMSTRAVAGANZA which featured 40 musical numbers from well-known and new productions.
Coming to Lanark Memorial Hall next year, Legally Blonde: The Musical is based on the popular movie. It follows the transformation of Elle Woods (played by Nicole Duthie), a sorority girl who enrols at Harvard Law to win back her former boyfriend. Along the way she tackles stereotypes, snobbery, and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. Throughout the show, very few characters have faith in Elle, but she manages to surprise them when she defies expectations while staying true to herself.
The production takes place in Lanark Memorial Hall from 23 – 25 March 2023. Tickets for are on sale now, priced from £12.50. Purchase tickets at www.sllcboxoffice.co.uk by calling 01555 673 199 or visiting the Lanark Memorial Hall Box Office.
